Short-time work, layoffs, problems with rent?

- We help each other! -

Dear Neighbors,
not only do many of us have fears regarding the Corona virus, but fears of short-time work or even job loss as well. While the government lost no time promising corporations billions in financial support, we workers, students, and self-employed people have mainly been left to solve our own problems. We can only fight for our rights if we do so together!

• Problems at work? You have been sent into "voluntary" unpaid vacation, recieve only part of your pay or are being asked to agree to "consensual termination" due to Corona? You were paid hourly and now recieve nothing because the cafe or store that you work in has closed? You have to keep working, but without proper safety standards?

• Self-employed without income? Most self-employed people have lost their income in the last few weeks - rent, utilities and loans still need to be paid. There is governmental support, but how do you go about getting it?

• Suddenly unemployed? You have lost your job due to the Corona crisis and are struggling with complicated application processes and forms? The Job Center is causing problems?

• Problems paying rent? Rent must be paid, despite short-time work or complete loss of income - how is that supposed to work? Apartment contracts are not allowed to be terminated right now, even if rent isn't being paid, but what does that mean exactly? What do you do when the landlord starts to pressure you?

You are not alone with these questions and problems! We aren't legal specialists, but are rather also effected by these problems, and have joined together to handle the current situation. We are not employed by the city and are not being paid for this work. We are united in our desire to build a neighborhood help system to combat this crisis through mutual aid, solidarity and cooperation.
